Everything that went live in June
Predated budgets, budgets against a cost bucket, and unit costs in custom dashboards.
We’re making cloud cost management more flexible and tailored to your business needs with these powerful updates. You can now create predated budgets to track past spends and align budgets with your financial timelines. We’ve also made it easier to create budgets against cost buckets, so you can monitor exactly what matters to your business.
What’s more? Unit cost tracking just got an upgrade. You can now save and add unit cost charts directly to your Custom Dashboards and monitor them with the rest of your key cost trends.
Key Enhancements:
Budget creation via cost buckets

Gone are the days of creating budgets using only dimensions. With our latest update, you can now create budgets directly via Cost Buckets. It gives you complete control over how you track and manage spend.
Cost Buckets are flexible, business-aligned groupings that let you budget and monitor any segment or sub-segment of your cloud costs.
For example, you can create budgets against a cost bucket for RDS spend or a cost bucket capturing the cost of a team-level tag.
Here’s how it works:
Head to ‘Budgets’ and click on ‘New Budget’.
Add a name and a description for your budget.
Under Scope, choose ‘Cost Bucket’ and pick from the list of cost buckets you created.
Set up your Budget Period
Tracking Frequency: Weekly or monthly.
Select a Start Month: You can now pick a date up to 1 year in the past.
Select the End Month.
Enter the total budget amount (in $).
Hit Save, and you're all set!
2. Create predated budgets

Amnic now supports predated budgets, which gives you the flexibility to create budgets for past months, up to 1 year back.
With this, you can track historical spend, align budgets with financial quarters, or clean up retroactive reporting. This update helps you stay in control and in sync.
Here’s how it works:
All steps follow the standard budget creation flow. To create a predated budget, just select a start date up to one year in the past.
Take control of your cloud cost budgets with these new enhancements today!
3. Track unit costs directly from your custom dashboards
Unit costs are now available in Custom Dashboards.
Previously, unit costs in Amnic were system-generated and available in a view-only format, which meant you couldn’t save or organize them for ongoing tracking.
Now, with our latest enhancement, you can actively manage your unit cost charts and bring them into your Custom Dashboards for continuous monitoring.
Here’s how it works:
Go to Cost Allocation > Unit Costs and select the unit cost chart you want, and save it.

Go to Custom Dashboards, select the dashboard you want or create a new one, and click on ‘Edit’.

Click on ‘unit cost charts’ option under ‘Add New’ and select the unit cost chart you saved in the previous step and click on ‘Add to Dashboard’.

Monitor it alongside other key cost trends.

With these updates, Amnic aims to make it easier than ever to tailor budgets and monitor the unit costs that matter, right from the dashboards your teams rely on every day.
