Create Your Own Custom Anomaly Rules
Define your own anomaly rules, set thresholds, and configure alerts across various channels.
We’re excited to roll out Custom Anomalies, a powerful addition that gives you complete control over how you detect and respond to unusual cloud spend. While default anomalies are automatically surfaced by Amnic, custom anomalies allow teams to define their own rules based on specific business metrics and allocated costs such as team costs, customer costs, Kubernetes, and more. When you land on the Anomalies page, you’ll now see two tabs:
Default Anomalies
Custom Anomalies
Custom Rule Creation

With Custom Anomalies, users can define anomaly rules tailored to their business needs. You can name each rule for easy tracking. The rules can be applied across multiple data sources including AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, or Allocated Costs. Refine anomaly detection by tracking costs by teams, environments, and other relevant filters to surface only what matters most to your organization.
Advanced Query Configuration

To fine-tune your anomaly detection, you can apply filters and up to five “group by” parameters. This allows users to narrow down the scope of detection and target specific segments. You can also set thresholds using percentages, absolute values, or a combination of both, helping you catch deviations that actually matter.
Configure Alerts

Users can set up alerts for Custom Anomalies via Slack, Teams, or Email. After defining thresholds, they can either select an existing channel or create a new one by entering a name and relevant details, such as webhook for Slack/Teams or email addresses. Once a channel is selected, users can map specific anomalies (tuples) to that channel.
Custom Anomalies Dashboard

Once rules are active, detected anomalies will appear under the Custom Anomalies tab. Each entry includes a summary. For a deeper investigation, users can directly jump to the Cost Analyzer and explore granular insights around each anomaly.
Flexible Rule Management

Users can view, edit, or delete existing rules from a centralized interface. You can adjust thresholds, duplicate existing rules, or suspend them temporarily without deleting them. This makes it easy to test and iterate on different anomaly detection strategies.
